The China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre held the 2021 Global Network Conference and Young Scholars Workshop online from 9 July to 1 October 2021 with the theme of ‘New opportunities and challenges to international economic law’.
Through the three months the CIBEL Centre held six conference panels and four young scholars’ workshops which attracted a total of 1,745 registrations and touched on the diverse yet significant topics of international law, commercial law, trade regulation, the Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) and more.

A total of 47 non-CIBEL speakers participated remotely from 13 countries alongside our CIBEL colleagues. Our international speakers included professors and experts from Accenture, King’s College London, University of Geneva, Tsinghua University and more.
The 2021 CIBEL Global Network Conference and Young Scholars Workshop offer two prizes: the CIBEL Global Network Young Scholar Prize and the CIBEL Global Network PhD Prize. The winners will be selected in due course based on the quality of their full papers.
The CIBEL Global Network is a hub and world-first network in this field initiated by CIBEL in 2018. It aims to engage and connect with scholars, businesses, practitioners, regulators, international organisations, NGOs, the public and other stakeholders across various fields. Its aim is to build a prosperous global community of people working in the CIBEL field.
We’d like to thank all of our speakers and audiences who contributed toward the 2021 Global Network Conference and Young Scholars Workshop program and ensured its success. We’re hoping to see both new and familiar faces in next year’s program.
