CIBEL would like to welcome our newest member, Associate Professor May Fong Cheong. May brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, and we are confident she will contribute greatly to the CIBEL initiative.

Associate Professor May Fong Cheong

 Dr May Fong Cheong is Associate Professor at the School of Private and Commercial Law, Faculty of Law and Justice, UNSW Sydney. She is also Adjunct Professor at Multimedia University Malaysia and was formerly Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. She completed her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at the University of Malaya, Master of Laws at the National University of Singapore, and her Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Sydney. She also holds a Diploma in Shariah Law and Practice from International Islamic University Malaysia. Dr Cheong researches the private law of obligations, especially in the fields of contract law, commercial law, consumer law and competition law. She specialises in Asian Comparative Law including Chinese Law along with the law in India and Southeast Asian jurisdictions.

 

 

 

CIBEL's new Postdoctoral Fellow:

Dr Xue (Sophia) Bai

We have also recruited a Postdoctoral Fellow for the team, Dr Sophia (Xue) Bai. You may have seen Sophia in our news articles and events before – she is no stranger to the CIBEL family. Sophia has been a part of CIBEL since its establishment in 2015 during which she’s taken on the roles of CIBEL PhD candidate and part-time administrator. Sophia has also been an all-rounder for the UNSW Law and Justice Faculty working as a teaching fellow, a research assistant, and a casual research administrator for the Faculty Research team. Her PHD was in Competition Law. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, Sophia will work alongside CIBEL members and support the Centre to achieve its strategic goals.
