CIBEL is pleased to announce a team of researchers, led by CIBEL co-Directors Professor Deborah Healey and Associate Professor Weihuan Zhou, have been awarded a $130,000 research grant under the Australian Government’s National Foundation for Australia-China Relations (NFACR) scheme for their project titled ‘Competition Law in the Digital Age: Enhancing Australian and Chinese business understanding.’

The project team, including the CIBEL co-Directors and Dr Xue (Sophia) Bai, will be researching supply chain resilience and sustainability with a focus on Competition Law in the Digital Environment.

This project aims to enhance the capacity of Australian businesses to engage confidently with their counterparts in China to tackle shared challenges posed by ongoing and potential supply chain disruptions in a sustainable way. This project will engage with policy makers, regulators and businesses in both countries and will deepen CIBEL’s engagement with existing Chinese University partners - Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Our research team’s goal to strengthen the engagement and understanding between Australian and Chinese business stakeholders will be carried out by:

  • Promoting connections and practical cooperation

  • Establishing new collaborations in the Asia-Pacific region

  • Building understanding and exchange through two bilateral forums across 2023/2024.

  • Showcasing Australian excellence

  • Engaging Australia’s diverse communities

The National Foundation for Australia - China Relations is dedicated to creating a national platform that engages government, business and communities to support and find ways to engage constructively with China, across greater China and to involve diverse stakeholders and communities.
